The Triumph Trident 800 is a brand-new middleweight naked roadster for 2026, slotting neatly above the accessible Trident 660 and below the track-focused Street Triple 765 RS. It is powered by an all-new 798cc inline three-cylinder engine – the same unit that debuted in the Tiger Sport 800 – producing 113 HP at 10,750 rpm and 84 Nm of torque at 8,500 rpm, putting it in direct competition with the Yamaha MT-09, Kawasaki Z900, and BMW F900R.
Triple throttle bodies, forged crankshaft and connecting rods, and a ride-by-wire system deliver exceptionally crisp and responsive throttle feel. The six-speed transmission pairs with Triumph's bi-directional Shift Assist quickshifter and an assist-and-slipper clutch, making every gear change fast and seamless in either direction. Three riding modes – Road, Sport, and Rain – adjust throttle response and traction control to match the conditions.
The chassis is derived directly from the Trident 660's tubular steel frame but equipped with higher-specification components. 41mm Showa SFF-BP inverted forks with compression and rebound adjustment, combined with a Showa monoshock with preload and rebound adjustment, provide sharp and confident handling. The braking system features dual 310mm front discs with 4-piston radial calipers, backed by Triumph's Optimised Cornering ABS which uses an IMU for lean-sensitive response – ensuring strong, progressive stopping power even mid-corner.
The electronics package is exceptional for this price point: lean-sensitive traction control, cruise control, and an up/down quickshifter all come as standard. A 3.5-inch circular TFT/LCD display with Bluetooth connectivity via the My Triumph app brings navigation, music, and calls within easy reach. The design blends retro and modern cues through a round LED headlight, flyscreen, belly pan, and distinctive five-spoke gold aluminium wheels. Available from March 2026.
